Survey: Venture-Backed CEOs Expect Strong Revenue Growth In 2012

Though the economy is recovering more slowly than most Americans hoped, start-up CEOs are seeing blue skies ahead for the coming year—and CEOs of venture-backed companies are the most cheery of all.

According to a new poll of its members by ExpertCEO, 80.4% of chief executives expect revenue to increase for their companies in 2012, while 13.8% expect it to remain flat and only 5.8% think revenue will decline.

Nearly half of the 87 CEOs surveyed, 47.1%, expect revenue to grow by more than 20%, and 25.3% expect it to grow from 10%-20%.

Among venture-backed companies the optimism was even greater—82.8% of the 35 venture-backed CEOs surveyed expected revenue to grow while only 2.9% thought it would decline. A whopping 60% thought revenue would increase by more than 20%.
